Ana Ivanovic officially became the newest No. 1 player on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour when the latest rankings were released on Monday.
She is the seventeenth player to hold the top spot since the Tour’s rankings were introduced in 1975.
Also on Monday, Elena Dementieva jumped to No. 5, her highest ranking since the 2006 US Open. After reaching the final at the French Open, Dinara Safina advanced to No. 9. See Top 20 Ranking Of World Women Tennis Ranking
